Sofiya is an environmental artist based in Bali since 2023, following eight years living and working in Singapore and other parts of Southeast Asia, and prior to that in Europe and Russia. With a background in both art and wildlife conservation, she creates work in response to fragile places and creatures, exploring what makes our relationship with nature so unbalanced — and how that imbalance fires back. She often works with found and reclaimed materials, such as garbage collected from Bali's shores. Her artworks have been exhibited in the US, UK, Singapore, Russia and Indonesia.
